The Caledus Disposable CleanUP™ TOOL (Clamp-on) is designed to be run on the upper or lower completion assembly attached to the outside of the casing, liner or tubing string. The assembly is equipped with a free rotating stabilisation sleeve fitted with magnets to collect ferrous material as well as a free rotating sleeve fitted with steel bristles for cleaning the outer casing. The basis of the tool design borrows field proven technology from the robust RotoTEC® drill pipe torque and drag reduction tools used in drilling applications when attached to the drill string.

The Disposable CleanUP™ TOOL will clean and prepare the outer casing through reciprocation immediately prior to setting a production packer, liner hanger, or integral liner hanger packer on the completion assembly. The assembly or multiple assemblies can be positioned and spaced out on the completion pipe below the packer/hanger to clean whilst running in the hole prior to spacing out to set the assembly.

Brush type tools and magnet subs have proven reliable methods of cleaning and preparing casings prior to setting packers for many years. Whilst separate pre-completion wellbore clean-up and displacement tools may still be used in advance of running the upper or lower completion the ability to clean the setting area of the packer immediately prior to setting is deemed advantageous. In some circumstances it may be desirable to omit a separate clean-up trip prior to running the upper or lower completion and utilise a Disposable CleanUP™ TOOL instead.

The tool may be clamped onto the appropriate size of drill pipe and used on a separate cleaning trip if required.

The Caledus Disposable CleanUP™ TOOL (In-line) is designed to be run as part of the upper or lower completion assembly and made up into the casing, liner or tubing string. The assembly is equipped with a stabilisation portion fitted with magnets to collect ferrous material as well as a portion fitted with steel bristles for cleaning the outer casing. The tool is an alternative to the Clamp-on version when insufficient annular clearance is available.
