FloMASTER DP

FloMASTER™ DP is a drill-pipe or tubing conveyed U-tube control device developed for cementing operations, especially accurate placement of balanced cement plugs. The system is a retrievable, re-useable tool for controlling free-fall, due to hydrostatic imbalance during pumping operations.

Uniform annular flow rates ensure cement slurries and spacers achieve the most effective mud removal and cement placement, and therefore better results. Multiple plugs can be laid in one run, as there are no balls or darts or moving parts in the tool.

The tool is simply placed in the drill-pipe or tubing near or at the bottom of the string and run in the hole. The cementing and displacing operation is then carried out in the usual fashion. The tool is retrieved and laid down when operations are complete. Free-fall is prevented so that the pump rate determines the speed of the fluids in the pipe and the annulus.

The down-hole choke, achieved by a convoluted flow-path creates a backpressure that ensures “Road-mapping” or surface pressure tracking can be achieved. Consistent and accurate plug placement can be achieved by pump stroke-counters or measurements from the displacement tanks on cementing units. The open-hole is protected from excessive ECD during un-controlled free-fall of dense slurries, consequently reducing the chances of induced losses.

Features: Controlled, track-able displacement of any heavy fluid pills. Large flow path through the tool. No moving parts. Simple to install, use and maintain. Robust tool with rotary shouldered connections throughout.

Applications: Balanced cement plugs, abandonment, kick-off, liner-lap squeeze, lost circulation. LCM pill placement.
