The SingleRUN™ Motor is down-hole drilling motor designed for single
run use, be economical enough to be disposed, and often left in the well.
They are engineered for a minimum 100 hours running life. The motors can
be cemented through, and would be supplied with a rupture disc sub directly
above to by-pass in the event of blockage.
The
motors will allow bits or mills, or reaming shoes to be rotated by pumping
alone without the need to rotate the whole string as an aid to get casing
strings to bottom. The planned use of the SingleRUN™ Motor may eliminate
the need for a costly wiper trip prior to running the casing or liner
string.
The uses for sacrificial motors are numerous:
- Casing strings that cannot be rotated to bottom
- Cemented completions that cannot easily be retrieved once near bottom
- Sand control screens that cannot be rotated to bottom
- Troublesome liner installations that cannot be rotated easily
- Drilling into the reservoir with any of the above to avoid an extra
short bit run
- Pre-completion well bore clean-up inside casing to drill out cement
inside the casing or liner (perhaps used on 4 runs then disposed of)
- Remote drilling locations with no maintenance facilities available
SingleRUN™ Motors include:
- Upper API box connection
- Multi-lobe, multi-stage power section
- Coupling with straight housing
- Mud-lubricated bearing assembly
- Output shaft with API box connection
